JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University women’s tennis team will head south to compete in their second event of the fall season this weekend when it takes part in the Georgia Southern Invite. In addition to the Bucs, the other teams competing will be Georgia Southern, Presbyterian College, Georgia State, Bethune Cookman, Savannah State, SCAD.
In its first action of the fall season, the Bucs went a collective 14-7 in singles competition and 6-4 in doubles action at the UNC Wilmington Invitational. Six players for ETSU has winning record for singles and three doubles teams have winning marks.
Individually, the Bucs have been led by Marina Espana (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) who is 3-0 in singles competition. Lynn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia), Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece), Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Austrailia), Ana Gerbasi (Caracas, Vennezuela) and Yi Chi Ma (Taipei, China) also all have winning record at 2-1.
In doubles, the team of Choo and Gerbasi are undefeated with a 2-0 mark, while the teams of Markesini/Espana and Ma/Regina Nychytailova (Maripol, Ukraine) are 2-1.
