STATESBORO, Ga. (Oct. 2, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University women’s tennis team went 7-1 overall in the first day of competition at the Georgia Southern Invite. The Bucs have a pair of double teams that advanced to the final round in their respective flights.

“It was a good opening day,” said ETSU head coach Travis Sandlant. “Both doubles teams are in the finals, which is what we have working on in practice so that was good to see.”

In addition to the perfect 4-0 doubles record, ETSU went 3-1 in singles action. Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverly, Austrailia) picked up her first win of the fall in three sets over Angie Danhous of SCAD. Regina Nychytailova (Maripol, Ukraine) also picked up another three set win and Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia) also picked up a singles victory.

The Bucs will take to the court again tomorrow for day two of the invite beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
