WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University women’s tennis team turned an 8-4 overall record in the first day of the Wake Forest Invitational Friday. The Bucs, who had three players advance to the finals in their respective singles flights, will get underway with doubles competition tomorrow.

Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece), Marina Espana (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) and Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malysia) all posted a 2-0 record Friday. All six of the victories came in two sets for the Bucs. Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Austrailia) and Yi Chi Ma (Taipei, China) also picked up victories for ETSU.

“It was a mixed bag of results today,” remarked ETSU Head Coach Travis Sandlant. “Ioanna Markisini had a great effort today and Marina Espana continues to get the job done as a freshman.”
