SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 26, 2017) – ETSU had 50 student-athletes earn academic honors for the spring semester as the Southern Conference announced its all-academic awards on Monday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 22, 2017) – ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander announced Thursday that former Auburn and LSU assistant coach Martin Stiegwardt has been named the new Director of Tennis and Men’s Tennis head coach for the Buccaneers.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 30, 2017) – With the completion of the spring seasons of league competition, the ETSU men’s programs were awarded its second-straight Southern Conference Commissioner’s Cup, which is the all-sport trophy that is presented to the conference’s best all-around men’s program.
ATHENS, Ga. (May 24, 2017) – Despite claiming the first set, junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) was unable hold off South Carolina’s Mia Horvit in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship as Markesini fell in three sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
ATHENS, Ga. (May 23, 2017) – The first round of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Singles Championship begins on Wednesday, May 24 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. as ETSU men’s tennis senior David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) and women’s tennis junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) prepare for their first round matchups.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 4, 2017) – Junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) and senior David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain) were selected by the NCAA committee to compete in the NCAA Championship as individuals. The singles competition will be conducted May 24-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. at the conclusion of the team championship.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 23, 2017) – After racing through the first two rounds of the Southern Conference Tournament in Spartanburg and Greenville, S.C., the ETSU women’s tennis team saw its run come to an end as the Bucs were out-dueled by No. 1 Furman 4-2 inside the Mickel Tennis Center.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 22, 2017) – After a dominating 4-0 win over Wofford in the first round, the ETSU women’s tennis team carried that momentum into the Southern Conference semifinals with a 4-0 victory over No. 3 Mercer on Saturday morning in Greenville, S.C.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 21, 2017) – Entering the Southern Conference Tournament winner’s of nine of the last ten matches, the ETSU women’s tennis team extended that stretch as the Bucs downed Wofford 4-0 in the quarterfinal round on Friday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 20, 2017) – After concluding the regular season 12-5 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Conference, the No. 2 ETSU women’s tennis team will travel to the SoCon Tournament as the Bucs will face off with No. 7 Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday, April 21 at the Reeves Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 19, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team claimed five postseason Southern Conference accolades with Marina Guinart (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) and Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) earning First Team singles and doubles honors while Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named Second Team for singles and Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) was honored with All-Freshman honors, which was announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 18, 2017) – The Southern Conference named junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) player of the week as she guided the ETSU women’s tennis team to a 2-0 record last week against Western Kentucky and UNCG.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 15, 2017) – After fending off UNCG on Saturday 4-3 in Johnson City, the ETSU women’s tennis team claimed the No. 2 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament that begins April 21 in Spartanburg, S.C.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 13, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team ended its non-conference schedule on a high note as the Bucs ran past Western Kentucky 4-1 at the WKU Tennis Complex in Bowling Green, Ky. on Thursday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 12, 2017) – After splitting two road contests last weekend, the ETSU women’s tennis team will conclude its regular season this weekend at Western Kentucky and at home against UNCG.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 8, 2017) – With the No. 1 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament on the line, the ETSU women’s team traveled to Greenville, S.C. where the Bucs fell 5-2 in a battle with Furman at the Mickel Tennis Central on Saturday afternoon.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 6, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team defeated Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. on Thursday, which put the Bucs into a tie for first place in the Southern Conference with Furman prior to the Bucs and Paladins squaring off on Saturday in Greenville, S.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 5, 2017) – Sporting a six-game winning streak, the ETSU women’s tennis team will put its success on the line as the Bucs travel to Wofford and Furman for a pair of important Southern Conference road matches. ETSU will play Wofford on Thursday, April 6 at 1 p.m. followed by Furman on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 5, 2017) – On Tuesday, April 11th, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will launch a special day of giving in support of Buccaneer student-athletes.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 1, 2017) – In a back-and-forth match, the ETSU women’s tennis team held on to win 4-3 as the Bucs fended off Mercer at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex on Saturday.

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (March 25, 2017) – For the second match in a row, the ETSU women’s team swept their opposition as the Bucs defeated Samford on Saturday 7-0 to claim their fifth straight win and to remain undefeated in the Southern Conference.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 24, 2017) – Carrying a four game winning streak, the ETSU women’s tennis team looks to extend that stretch as the Bucs travel to Samford on Saturday to take on the Bulldogs at noon, eastern.

(March 21, 2017) – After leading the ETSU women’s tennis team to a 2-0 start in Southern Conference play, sophomore Marina Guinart (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) was tabbed SoCon player of the week after going 3-0 against Chattanooga and Western Carolina in doubles and singles play last week.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (March 19, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team continued its dominance on Sunday as the Bucs rolled past Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C. 7-0 to advance their win streak to four matches.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 17, 2017) – In a shortened match due to time constrictions at the Bristol Racquet Club, the ETSU women’s tennis team defeated Tennessee-Chattanooga 4-2 for its first Southern Conference win of the season on Friday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 16, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team begins its Southern Conference play as the Bucs will host Tennessee-Chattanooga on Friday at 1 p.m. and then travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to face Western Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m.

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 12, 2017) – For her 24th straight singles match, Marina Guinart (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) came out on top and maintained her singles winning streak as she is now 24-0 while with the Bucs, but the ETSU women’s tennis team fell to NC State on Sunday in Raleigh, N.C. 5-2.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 11, 2017) – After taking eight days from the court, the ETSU women’s tennis team will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to square off against Atlantic Coast Conference member North Carolina State on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.
TEMPE, Ariz. (Feb. 8, 2017) – Five weeks into the ETSU men’s and women’s tennis seasons, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) updated its national rankings, and the Bucs landed four individuals on the national rankings including a pair in the doubles ranks.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 22, 2017) – After falling to Virginia Tech to open the season, the ETSU women’s tennis team rebounded and snuck out a 4-3 win over Troy in a neutral site dual match in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday morning.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 21, 2017) – To open the season, the ETSU women’s tennis team was upended by Virginia Tech 5-2 on Saturday in Blacksburg, Va.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 20, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will open its 2017 schedule with a trip to Blacksburg, Va. where the Bucs will compete in a two-day round robin tournament with Virginia Tech and Troy on January 21-22.
TEMPE, Az. (Jan. 12, 2017) – Announced Thursday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), three Buccaneer tennis players were ranked individually in the top-100 in singles tennis.
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2016) – Marina Espana (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) won two matches in the main open singles, and Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) won the consolation bracket at the 2016 Dick Vitale Intercollegiate this past weekend at the Lakewood Ranch Athletic Center in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
MURFREESBORO & KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2016) – The ETSU men’s and women’s tennis teams wrapped up its third day at the ITA Regional Championship on Saturday at regional sites Middle Tennessee State University and University of Tennessee.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2016) – Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) paced the ETSU men’s tennis team at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships as he advanced to the Round of 64, and Marina Espana (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) was the lone Buccaneers women’s tennis player to play on Saturday.
TEMPE, Ariz. (July 25, 2016) – The ETSU men’s and women’s tennis teams earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors, while having 10 Buccaneers also recognized as scholar athletes, which was announced by the committee on Monday.
