Fifty Buccaneer student-athletes earn SoCon All-Academic honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 26, 2017) – ETSU had 50 student-athletes earn academic honors for the spring semester as the Southern Conference announced its all-academic awards on Monday.


Stiegwardt named new ETSU Director of Tennis

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 22, 2017) – ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander announced Thursday that former Auburn and LSU assistant coach Martin Stiegwardt has been named the new Director of Tennis and Men’s Tennis head coach for the Buccaneers.


ETSU men earn second-straight Commissioner’s Cup

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 30, 2017) – With the completion of the spring seasons of league competition, the ETSU men’s programs were awarded its second-straight Southern Conference Commissioner’s Cup, which is the all-sport trophy that is presented to the conference’s best all-around men’s program.


Markesini falls in three sets at NCAA Singles Championship

ATHENS, Ga. (May 24, 2017) – Despite claiming the first set, junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) was unable hold off South Carolina’s Mia Horvit in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship as Markesini fell in three sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

(May 23, 2017) – The first round of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Singles Championship begins on Wednesday, May 24 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. as ETSU men’s tennis senior David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) and women’s tennis junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) prepare for their first round matchups.


Markesini, Biosca selected to NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 4, 2017) – Junior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) and senior David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain) were selected by the NCAA committee to compete in the NCAA Championship as individuals. The singles competition will be conducted May 24-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. at the conclusion of the team championship.


Bucs out-dueled by No. 1 Furman in SoCon Championships

GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 23, 2017) – After racing through the first two rounds of the Southern Conference Tournament in Spartanburg and Greenville, S.C., the ETSU women’s tennis team saw its run come to an end as the Bucs were out-dueled by No. 1 Furman 4-2 inside the Mickel Tennis Center.


ETSU advances to SoCon championship with 4-0 win

(April 19, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team claimed five postseason Southern Conference accolades with Marina Guinart (Castellar Del Valles, Spain) and Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) earning First Team singles and doubles honors while Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named Second Team for singles and Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) was honored with All-Freshman honors, which was announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
