ETSU captures third consecutive Commissioner’s Cup

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 29, 2018) -- For the third consecutive year and fourth time in program history, the ETSU men’s athletics program was awarded the Southern Conference Commissioner’s Cup, which is the all-sport trophy that is presented to the conference’s best all-around men’s program.

Five Bucs highlight SoCon Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 18, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team claimed five postseason Southern Conference accolades with Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) earning First Team in singles, while the duo also earned First Team in doubles. Senior Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia) was named to the Second Team at the No. 5 singles spot and also earned a spot on the Second Team in doubles after combining with Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan). Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) was honored with All-Freshman Team honors.


Women’s tennis tops Appalachian State 5-2 on senior day

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 14, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concluded the regular season on a high note after topping Appalachian State 5-2 on senior day. The Bucs improve their overall record to 11-10, while the Mountaineers drop to 10-10. In the middle of doubles and singles action, the Bucs honored their four seniors, Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece), Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia), and Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverley, Australia) for a tremendous four years.

The win helped the Bucs improve to 10-10 and 5-2 in the SoCon, while handing Samford their first conference loss of the season.


ETSU falls short in tight battle against Furman

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 6, 2018) – In one of the Bucs’ longest matches of the season, ETSU came up just short against the Furman Paladins on Friday morning at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. With a 4-3 win, the Paladins remain undefeated to improve to 16-8 and 6-0 in the SoCon, while the Bucs fall to 9-10 and 4-2 in the conference.

Bucs notch 5-2 win against VCU in last road match

RICHMOND, Va. (March 24, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their last match on the road after notching a 5-2 victory against VCU on Saturday morning at the Thalhimer Tennis Center. The Bucs went 4-7 when playing on the road season, but improve their overall record to 8-9. The Bucs have now extended their winning streak to four, while VCU drops to 11-3.

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 21, 2018) – Despite the snow, the ETSU women’s tennis team played indoors at the Bristol Racquet Club to earn their second sweep of the season. The Bucs swept Western Carolina to improve to 7-9 and 3-1 in the SoCon, while WCU dropped to 6-6 and 0-2 in the conference.

GREENSBORO. N.C. (March 18, 2018) – After playing their fifth straight match on the road, the Bucs concluded their longest road swing of the season. ETSU capped off their weekend with their second conference win after downing the UNCG Spartans on the road 6-1. ETSU improves to 6-9 and 2-1 in the SoCon, while UNCG drops to 4-7 and 1-1 in the SoCon.

Scott Carter to be named new ETSU AD in September

ETSU Places 193 Student-Athletes on 2016-17 SoCon Honor Roll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 6, 2017) – The Southern Conference released its 2016-17 academic honor roll on Thursday, and ETSU placed 193 student-athletes on the list. In total, a league-record 2,100 student-athletes from the 10 member institutions and 13 associate members earned the distinction.
