SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 29, 2018) -- For the third consecutive year and fourth time in program history, the ETSU men’s athletics program was awarded the Southern Conference Commissioner’s Cup, which is the all-sport trophy that is presented to the conference’s best all-around men’s program.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 22, 2018) – After getting through the first two rounds of the Southern Conference Tournament in Chattanooga, the ETSU women’s tennis team saw its run come to an end, as the Bucs were out-dueled by No. 1 Furman 4-1 inside the McCallie School.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 21, 2018) – After a dominating 4-0 win over Wofford in the first round, the ETSU women’s tennis team carried that momentum into the Southern Conference semifinals with a 4-0 victory over No. 3 Samford on Saturday afternoon at the Champions Club.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 20, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team cruised past No. 7 Wofford on Friday afternoon during the quarterfinal round at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 19, 2018) – After claiming the No. 2 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament, the ETSU women’s tennis team will open the quarterfinal round on Friday, April 20 in Chattanooga, Tenn. against No. 7 Wofford at 3:00 p.m.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 18, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team claimed five postseason Southern Conference accolades with Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) earning First Team in singles, while the duo also earned First Team in doubles. Senior Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia) was named to the Second Team at the No. 5 singles spot and also earned a spot on the Second Team in doubles after combining with Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan). Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) was honored with All-Freshman Team honors.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 14, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concluded the regular season on a high note after topping Appalachian State 5-2 on senior day. The Bucs improve their overall record to 11-10, while the Mountaineers drop to 10-10. In the middle of doubles and singles action, the Bucs honored their four seniors, Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece), Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia), and Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverley, Australia) for a tremendous four years.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 13, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will host Appalachian State to conclude their regular season. The Bucs will also celebrate senior day in the middle of doubles and singles action. ETSU will honor their four seniors Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece), Alory Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia), and Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverley, Australia).
For the second straight year, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will launch a special day of giving in support of Buccaneer student-athletes on Wednesday, April 11th.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 8, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concluded SoCon regular season play with a 7-0 win over Samford on Sunday afternoon at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. The win helped the Bucs improve to 10-10 and 5-2 in the SoCon, while handing Samford their first conference loss of the season.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 6, 2018) – In one of the Bucs’ longest matches of the season, ETSU came up just short against the Furman Paladins on Friday morning at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. With a 4-3 win, the Paladins remain undefeated to improve to 16-8 and 6-0 in the SoCon, while the Bucs fall to 9-10 and 4-2 in the conference.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 5, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will host a pair of conference matches this upcoming weekend. First the Bucs will host Furman on Friday, April 6 and then the Bucs welcome Samford on Sunday, April 8. Both matches will be played at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 31, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team extended their win streak to five after earning a 6-1 win over the Wofford Terriers on Saturday afternoon at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. The Bucs improve to 9-9 and 4-1 in the SoCon, while Wofford drops to 8-7 and 0-4 in the SoCon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 30, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team hosts Wofford this Saturday, March 31 at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. ETSU has four matches until they finish the regular season. All four matches will be played at home, as the Bucs concluded the travel portion of their schedule.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 27, 2018) – Senior Ioanna Markesini (Athens, Greece) was tabbed the SoCon women’s tennis player of the week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. Markesini helped her team improve to 3-1 in SoCon action, while extending the Bucs’ win streak to four after picking up two wins last week.
RICHMOND, Va. (March 24, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their last match on the road after notching a 5-2 victory against VCU on Saturday morning at the Thalhimer Tennis Center. The Bucs went 4-7 when playing on the road season, but improve their overall record to 8-9. The Bucs have now extended their winning streak to four, while VCU drops to 11-3.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 21, 2018) – Despite the snow, the ETSU women’s tennis team played indoors at the Bristol Racquet Club to earn their second sweep of the season. The Bucs swept Western Carolina to improve to 7-9 and 3-1 in the SoCon, while WCU dropped to 6-6 and 0-2 in the conference.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 20, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will play two matches this week. First they will host conference foe, Western Carolina in a midweek match this Wednesday, March 21. Then they will play in a non-conference battle on Saturday, March 24. The Bucs are eager to extend their two-match winning streak.
GREENSBORO. N.C. (March 18, 2018) – After playing their fifth straight match on the road, the Bucs concluded their longest road swing of the season. ETSU capped off their weekend with their second conference win after downing the UNCG Spartans on the road 6-1. ETSU improves to 6-9 and 2-1 in the SoCon, while UNCG drops to 4-7 and 1-1 in the SoCon.
MACON, Ga. (March 16, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their fourth straight match on the road and picked up a 5-2 win against the Mercer Bears. The Bucs improve to 5-9 and 1-1, as Mercer drops to 7-7 and 0-1.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 15, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will return to action this weekend when they play a pair of matches on the road. First they will take on the Mercer Bears and then they will take on the UNCG Spartans in back-to-back conference matches.
LAKE NONA, Fla. (March 7, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team took on No. 25 UCF on Wednesday evening at the USTA National Campus. The Bucs fell 6-1 to drop to 4-9, as UCF improves to 9-2.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 4, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team kicked off one of two matches in the sunshine state. UNF defeated ETSU 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex. UNF improves to 8-4, as the Bucs fall to 4-8 in overall season records
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 3, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their first conference match of the season at Chattanooga this afternoon and fell 4-3. The Bucs fall to 4-7 and 0-1 in the conference, while Chattanooga improves to 5-4 and 1-0 in the conference.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 1, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will play two matches this weekend. First, they will kick of conference action with a match against the Chattanooga Mocs, followed by a non-conference matchup against North Florida.

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2018) – With back-to-back home matches, Western Kentucky edged the Bucs 4-3 on Sunday morning at the Bristol Racquet Club, handing the Bucs their first loss at home. ETSU drops to 4-6, while WKU improves to 4-3.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2018) – In their first match played on their home court at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex, the ETSU women’s tennis team defeated the Miami RedHawks 6-1 on Friday afternoon. ETSU improves to 4-5, as the RedHawks drop to 4-6.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 21, 2018) The ETSU women’s tennis team took on the #37 ranked NC State Wolfpack on the road at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Wednesday night. The Bucs fell 6-1 to Wolfpack to drop to a 3-5 record.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team hits the road to take on NC State on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The match is set for 8:00 p.m. Following this match, the Bucs will host back-to-back matches beginning with Miami on Feb. 23 and Western Kentucky on Feb. 25.

AKRON, Ohio. (Feb. 18, 2018)-- After a weekend spent in Ohio, the Bucs finsished 1-1. ETSU fell to the Akron Zips on Sunday morning 5-2, at the LaTuchie Tennis Center.
AKRON, Ohio. (Feb. 17, 2018) -- The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up a big win on the road against Big 12 opponent, West Virginia on Saturday morning at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. A great team effort gave the Bucs a 6-1 win to improve to 3-3, as the Mountaineers fall to 2-3.
AKRON, Ohio. (Feb. 16, 2018)-- The ETSU women’s tennis team will travel to the state of Ohio for two dual matches. On Saturday, Feb. 17, they will take on West Virginia and on Sunday, Feb. 18 they will take on Virginia. Both matches will be played at the LaTuchie Tennis Center in Akron, Ohio.
HARROGATE, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2018) -- It was an exciting day for the ETSU women’s tennis team, as they picked up their first sweep of the season after toppling Lincoln Memorial 7-0. The Bucs now improve to 2-3 on the season, while Lincoln Memorial drops to 3-2.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2018) The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up their first win of the season this past Saturday, with a 4-3 win over Tusculum. The Bucs are eager to continue that momentum when they head to Harrogate, Tenn. to take on the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters. This will be the first time in program history that both teams will meet. The Bucs will also be the first Division I team LMU will host since 1992.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 4, 2018) The ETSU women’s tennis team hosted Tusculum on Saturday evening at the Bristol Racquet Club. The Bucs came away with a 4-3 win to pick up their first win of the season, while handing Tusculum their first loss.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 2, 2018) -- The ETSU women’s tennis team welcomes the Tusculum Pioneers on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Bristol Racquet Club. The match is set for 5:30 p.m.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 28, 2018) – To conclude their opening weekend of the 2018 season, the Bucs fell to the Memphis Tigers 4-0 in Knoxville, Tenn.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 27, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team battled in their second match of the season, as they took on in-state rival Tennessee. The Vols defeated the Bucs 4-0.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 26, 2018) – In their season opener, the ETSU women’s tennis team fell to the Virginia Tech Hokies, 7-0 on Friday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 25, 2018) The ETSU women’s tennis team will officially begin their season on Friday, Jan. 26, when they travel to take on the Hokies of Virginia Tech. Following this match, the Bucs will take on Tennessee on Jan. 27 and Memphis on Jan. 28 to conclude their three-match weekend.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 12, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concluded play at the FSU All Conference Showdown today. They all wrapped up their fall tournament schedule.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 11, 2017) – After competing in the FSU All Conference Showdown on Friday and Saturday, the Bucs concluded doubles play with one doubles pair finishing second, while the other finishing in third. Singles action will conclude on Sunday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2017) – The ETSU women’s tennis team traveled to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the FSU All Conference Showdown hosted by Florida State University. The tournament is set for Nov. 10-12 with 11 teams competing in this showdown.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 28, 2017) –The ETSU women’s tennis team kicked off play at the Wofford Invitational. Three Buccaneers competed in the draws.

Markesini enters the 2017-18 season ranked 88th, which is the highest ITA ranking in ETSU tennis history

(Aug. 22, 2017) – ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland announced Tuesday a transition plan for the leadership of the Buccaneers’ Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, as former ETSU football standout and current Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer Scott Carter will assume the role of director of intercollegiate athletics in September.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 6, 2017) – The Southern Conference released its 2016-17 academic honor roll on Thursday, and ETSU placed 193 student-athletes on the list. In total, a league-record 2,100 student-athletes from the 10 member institutions and 13 associate members earned the distinction.
