SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 26, 2019) -- The Southern Conference announced its academic honor roll for the 2018-19 academic year on Wednesday afternoon, including 228 ETSU student-athletes on the list.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 25, 2019) -- The Southern Conference announced its Academic All-Conference selections for the spring semester on Tuesday afternoon, as ETSU placed 56 student-athletes on the prestigious list.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has named Ohio University Director of Athletics Jim Schaus its new commissioner, effective July 1. A formal press conference to introduce Schaus will take place at the Southern Conference office in Spartanburg on Wednesday, June 5, at 3 p.m.

MACON, Ga. (April 20, 2019) – After getting through the first two rounds of the Southern Conference Tournament in Macon, the ETSU women’s tennis team saw its run come to an end. ETSU was out-dueled by No. 1 Furman 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at the John Drew Tennis Center.
MACON, Ga. (April 19, 2019) – After a dominating 5-0 win over Western Carolina in the first round, the ETSU women’s tennis team carried that momentum into the Southern Conference semifinals. ETSU earned a 4-1 victory over No. 3 Wofford on Friday afternoon at the John Drew Tennis Center.
MACON, Ga. (April 18, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team cruised past No. 7 Western Carolina on Thursday morning during the quarterfinal round at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon, Ga.
MACON, Ga. (April 17, 2019) – After claiming the No. 2 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament, the ETSU women’s tennis team will open the quarterfinal round on Thursday, April 18 in Macon, Ga. against No. 7 Western Carolina at 10:30 a.m.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 16, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team claimed six postseason Southern Conference accolades with freshman Laylo Bakhodirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) garnering First Team in singles and also earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Bakhodirova finished her rookie season with a 7-10 overall record at the No. 1 spot.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 13, 2019) – In one of the most anticipated matches of the season, the ETSU women’s tennis team fell to #48 Furman 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Mickel Tennis Center. The Bucs conclude the regular season with an 11-10 overall record and a 6-1 mark in conference. Furman finishes the season with a 23-1 overall record and 7-0 in the conference.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 12, 2019) – The biggest match of the year awaits, as ETSU is set to take on the Furman Paladins on Saturday, April 13 at noon. Both ETSU and Furman are 6-0 in conference action and both are eager to capture the 2019 regular season title.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 10, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their final home match of the season on Wednesday afternoon, at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. The Bucs defeated UNCG 5-2 on senior day, improving their record to 11-9 and 6-0 in the conference. UNCG falls to 9-11 and 3-4 in the conference.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 9, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will host UNCG on Wednesday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. This will be the Bucs’ final regular season match played at home, as ETSU will honor redshirt junior, Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) for Senior Day.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 5, 2019) – After enjoying three straight home matches, the Bucs hit the road to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts on Friday afternoon at the Catamount Athletic Complex. ETSU remains undefeated in the SoCon with a 6-1 win over the Catamounts to improve to 10-9 and 5-0. Western Carolina falls to 12-8, 2-4.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 4, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team heads back on the road for a conference matchup, as they take on Western Carolina on Friday, April 5. The match is set for 2:00 p.m. in Cullowhee. N.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 2, 2019) – laying their third straight home match at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex, the Bucs won their fourth consecutive SoCon match on Tuesday afternoon. ETSU defeated the Mercer Bears 5-2, to improve to 9-9, 4-0 in the SoCon, while the Bears drop to 10-11, 2-4 in the SoCon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 1, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concludes a three-match home stand on Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. ETSU will welcome the Mercer Bears at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex, as the Bucs look to stay undefeated in the SoCon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 30, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team earned their third straight Southern Conference win. ETSU took down the Chattanooga Mocs 5-2, Saturday morning at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. The Bucs improve to 8-9, 3-0 in the SoCon, while the Mocs fall to 7-8, 0-3 in the SoCon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 29, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team returned home to the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex, but fell to MTSU 4-2 on Friday afternoon. The Bucs fall to 7-9, while MTSU improves to 7-10.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 28, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team returns home to the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex this weekend and will play two matches. The Bucs will welcome MTSU on Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. The Bucs will then shift their attention to conference play on Saturday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. when they host Chattanooga.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 23, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team earned their second straight SoCon win after blanking Samford 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center. The Bucs improve to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the SoCon, while Samford falls to 10-7 overall and 1-1 in the SoCon.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 21, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up their first conference win of the season after downing Wofford 6-1 on Thursday afternoon. The Bucs improve to 6-8, 1-0 in conference, while Wofford falls to 9-5, 1-1 in conference.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 20, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will conclude their road swing this weekend, as they kick off conference play on the road. ETSU will first take on Wofford at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 and then will play their ninth straight road match at Samford on Saturday, March 23 at noon.
RICHMOND, Va. (March 16, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team returned to action today at the Thalhimer Tennis center in Richmond, Va., as the Bucs fell to VCU 4-3. ETSU drops to 5-8, while VCU improves to 11-3.
RICHMOND, Va. (March 15, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will return to action this Saturday, March 16 at the Thalhimer Tennis Center, with the match beginning at noon. The Bucs are eager to bounce back and grab a road win after losing three straight on the road.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 5, 2019) – Freshman Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) was named the SoCon Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Amaro went a perfect 2-0 in singles action and went 1-1 in doubles.
CINCINNATI, Ohio. (March 2, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their second straight match in Cincinnati at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club. The Bucs battled, but fell to Xavier 4-3, falling to 5-7 overall, while Xavier improves to 8-2.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 1, 2019) -- The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Firday that it has reached a new agreement with Nike & BSN SPORTS, as the official apparel, footwear & equipment provider for Buccaneer athletics.
CINCINNATI, Ohio. (March 1, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team played their first match in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club. The Bucs stayed close with the Bearcats, but ultimately fell 4-3.
CINCINNATI, Ohio (Feb. 28, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team gears up for two road matches in Cincinnati, Ohio this weekend. The Bucs will take on Cincinnati on Friday, March 1 at 5:00 p.m., followed by a match against Xavier on Saturday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team made the short trip to Knoxville, to take on the No. 29 Lady Vols, on Sunday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center. The Bucs fell 4-0 to the Lady Vols, dropping to 5-5 on the season.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will play their fourth Power 5 team of the season, when they take the short trip to Knoxville to play the 29th ranked Tennessee Vols. The match is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
HARROGATE, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up their fourth sweep of the season after taking down Lincoln Memorial 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex. The Bucs improve to 5-4, while LMU drops to 5-2.
HARROGATE, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2019) – After two losses last week, the ETSU women’s tennis team is looking to bounce back, as they shift their attention to Lincoln Memorial. The Bucs will play on the road at the LMU Tennis Complex and the match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Feb. 17, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team took on Alabama on Sunday morning at the UA Tennis Facility, but fell to the Crimson Tide 6-1. The Bucs fall to 4-4, while Alabama improves to 9-1.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Feb. 16, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will take on Alabama on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 11:00 a.m. (ET) at the Alabama Tennis Center.
BOONE, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team made the short trip over the mountain, to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers, on Wednesday afternoon at the Deer Valley Racquet Club. ETSU was edged by Appalachian State 4-3, as the Bucs fall to 4-3, while the Mountaineers improve to 2-1.
BOONE, N.C. (Feb. 12, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team begins one of nine straight matches on the road. The Bucs will head over the mountain to face Appalachian State on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 2:00 p.m.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2019) – Playing their second straight home match, the ETSU women’s tennis team picked up a 4-0 win over Liberty on Saturday morning at the Bristol Racquet Club. ETSU improves to 4-2 ending Liberty’s two-match win streak, as they fall to 2-2.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team plays their second straight home match when they host Liberty on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10:00 a.m. Due to weather, the match will be played indoors at the Bristol Racquet Club.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2019) – On a beautiful day in Johnson City, the ETSU women’s tennis team earned their second sweep of the season over Tusculum on Thursday afternoon at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. ETSU improves to 3-2, while Tusculum falls to 0-1 in the spring season.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 6, 2019) – After playing their first four matches on the road, the ETSU women’s tennis team will host Tusculum on Thursday, Feb. 7 for their home opener. The match is set for 3:00 p.m. and will be played outside at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concluded their weekend in Nashville, but fell 4-1 to Lipscomb at the Whitworth Racquet Club.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up their second straight win and their first sweep of the season, after winning 7-0 against Belmont on Friday night at the Ensworth High School Tennis Center.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 31, 2019) – Coming off a thrilling comeback win over Virginia Tech, the ETSU women’s tennis team continues their road stint when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. The Bucs will play Belmont on Friday, Feb. 1 and then will take on Lipscomb on Sunday, Feb. 3.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 27, 2019) – After falling behind 3-1 in the match, the ETSU women’s tennis team won three straight singles matches to upset the Hokies on Sunday morning, 4-3. The Bucs improve to 1-1 overall, while also handing the Hokies their first loss of the season.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 26, 2019) – On Sunday, the ETSU women’s tennis team will look to pick up their first victory of the season at Virginia Tech. The match is set for 10:00 a.m.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 16, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team officially kicked off the 2019 season today at NC State. The Wolfpack defeated the Bucs 7-0 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 17, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will officially begin the 2019 season on Friday, Jan. 18 at NC State. The match is set for 11:00 a.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Court.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 4, 2018) – It was a fantastic outing for the Buccaneer women’s tennis team at the Wofford Fall Invitational. Three Bucs won in singles action, while one doubles pair won their doubles draw. Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) and Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) won the gold doubles draw after winning both matches today.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 3, 2018) – With the rain washing out day one of the Wofford Fall Invitational on Friday, the ETSU women’s tennis team was finally able to compete. Two rounds of singles and one round of doubles was played today, as the Bucs were nearly perfect.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 1, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend. They will play in the Wofford Fall Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. with the tournament beginning on Friday, Nov. 2 and concluding on Sunday, Nov. 4. Throughout the tournament, six Bucs will compete in six different draws and three pairs will compete in doubles.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 13, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team concluded action at the 2018 ITA Regional Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) advanced to the round of 16, but fell to Christina Rosca from Vanderbilt.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 12, 2018) – Junior Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) had a successful day at the 2018 ITA Regional Championships. She defeated Johanna Silva from Tennessee 6-4, 6-3 and then moved on to defeat Seirra Shimizu from Purdue 2-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5. Both were seeded opponents and Pascual-Larrinaga will move on to play Vanderbilt’s Christina Rosca in the quarterfinals at 9:00 a.m.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team finished day one of the 2018 Ohio Valley Regionals. The Bucs as a team played seven matches in both singles and doubles.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2018) – The 2018 ITA Regional Championships is set for Thursday, Oct. 11 – Monday, Oct. 15 in Chattanooga, Tenn. at the Champions Club. There are 128 singles in the main draw and 64 singles in the Flight B singles. There’s also 64 doubles in the main draw and 32 doubles in the Flight B doubles.
MACON, Ga. (Oct. 7, 2018) – After a long two days of first fall tournament, the ETSU women’s tennis team concluded action at the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga. The double pair of Yi Chi Ma and Alejandra Morales went undefeated in doubles play throughout the day.
