Action returns tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team finished day one of the 2018 Ohio Valley Regionals. The Bucs as a team played seven matches in both singles and doubles.

In the Ohio Valley Women Main Draw, Yunen Elizarraras fell to Louisville’s Diana Wong 7-5, 6-2. Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) defeated Sarah Lounsbury (IUPUI) 6-2, 6-2. She will move on to play Johanna Silva from Tennessee on Friday at 9:00 a.m. After receiving a bye today, Laylo Bakhodirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) will also play tomorrow against Sena Suswam from Louisville.

In the Ohio Valley Women Doubles, Yi Chi Ma and Laylo Bakhodirova were the only Bucs that were able to pick up a win. The pair defeated Katherine Cao and Hanna Davies from Memphis 8-4. They will move on to play Wright State’s duo tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

Esther Guemes (Madrid, Spain) was also defeated in her division. She fell to IUPUI’s Mariella Pessina 6-0, 6-3 in the Ohio Valley Women Flight B Singles.

Lastly, Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) defeated Makenzie Myers from Miami-OH 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-4. She will move on to tomorrow’s action and take on Tennessee’s Sadie Hammond at 11:30 a.m. Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) will also play tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. after receiving a bye today and the same goes for Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) who will play at noon against Ioana Gunca from Cincinnati.
