SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 1, 2018) – The ETSU women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend. They will play in the Wofford Fall Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. with the tournament beginning on Friday, Nov. 2 and concluding on Sunday, Nov. 4. Throughout the tournament, six Bucs will compete in six different draws and three pairs will compete in doubles. 

In singles action, two Bucs will play at 12:30 p.m. Laylo Bakodirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) will play Shelby King from ASU in gold singles, while Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) will take on Daniela Naupari from GWU in the Wofford singles.

Three Bucs will play at 2:30 p.m. in their singles draw. In the black singles Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) will face Mayumi Saguchi from GWU. Yunuen Elizzarraras is in the white singles and is set to play WCU’s Savannah Taranto. Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) plays Katey Fruehauf from RU in the SoCon singles draw.

Wrapping up the first day of the Wofford Fall Invite is Esther Guemes (Madrid, Spain) in the gold doubles. She will face Marielle Leahy from RU at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Doubles play will kick off the tournament on Friday at 11:00 a.m. All three pairs will play at the same time. In the gold doubles, Morales/Ma will take on WCU’s Strickland/Taranto. Amaro and Bakodirova will play together in the gold doubles. They will play Naupauri/Limauge from GWU. Lastly in doubles, Elizarraras and Guemes combine in the gray doubles to take on Emory’s Olcay/Taylor.
