NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up their second straight win and their first sweep of the season, after winning 7-0 against Belmont on Friday night at the Ensworth High School Tennis Center.

Laylo Bakhodirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) picked up the first win of the match with a 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles spot. Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) and Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) clinched the doubles point after also winning 6-1.

Bakhodirova was on a roll and quickly turned her attention to singles action. She defeated Drew Hawkins 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. Her doubles partner Morales also gave ETSU a singles win after she defeated Erin Allen 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Amaro clinched the win for the Bucs earning a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sarah Brackin. Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) would continue to keep the Bucs perfect with a 7-5, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot, defeating Peyton Lee. Yunuen Elizarraras (Cuernavaca, Mexico) battled at the No. 5 spot to capture her first collegiate win. She came from behind to win 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). Lastly, Yi Chi Ma would defeat Maria Plaksina 7-6, 6-3 to give ETSU the full sweep.

ETSU continues to stay in Nashville, Tenn. and will shift their attention to Lipscomb. The match is set for Sunday, Feb. 3 at 7:00 p.m.
