RICHMOND, Va. (March 15, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will return to action this Saturday, March 16 at the Thalhimer Tennis Center, with the match beginning at noon. The Bucs are eager to bounce back and grab a road win after losing three straight on the road.
Despite the losses in Cincinnati, freshman Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) earned her first collegiate SoCon Player of the Week honor. She went 2-2 in singles and 1-2 in doubles action when paired with Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan). Amaro leads the Bucs with a 9-3 overall record. Coming in right behind her is Andrea-Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) who has an 8-3 record in singles. As a team ETSU is 34-30 in singles and 14-16 in doubles.
VCU enters the weekend with a 10-3 record and are undefeated at home. The Rams are 60-12 in singles and 22-13 in doubles. Paola Diaz-Delgado leads the Rams with a 12-0 record at the No. 1 spot. Anna Rasmussen holds a 10-2 record, winning her last six matches. Marina Bakkari is also undefeated with a 9-0 record at the No. 3 spot.
