JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 20, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team will conclude their road swing this weekend, as they kick off conference play on the road. ETSU will first take on Wofford at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 and then will play their ninth straight road match at Samford on Saturday, March 23 at noon.
About the Bucs
ETSU enters SoCon play with a 5-8 overall record. They are eager to snap their four-match losing streak and to pick up their first conference win. ETSU won both regular season matches against Wofford and Samford last season. The Bucs are 36-34 in singles and 16-17 in doubles. Freshman Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) leads ETSU with a 10-3 record, the only Buc with double figure wins. Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) has eight wins, while Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) has six wins.
About Wofford
Wofford has a 9-4 overall record and are coming off their latest win over UNCG. The Terriers are 49-26 in singles and 27-9 in doubles. Jenna Vroman leads Wofford with a 10-1 record in singles. Lilie Steryous has eight singles wins, while Cassidy Hicks has seven. In doubles, Vroman combines with Cassidy Hicks and the pair has a 9-1 doubles record.
About Samford
Samford is 9-6 and will play at Mercer for their first conference match before taking on the Bucs. The Bulldogs are 45-31 in singles and 14-24 in doubles. Grace Jennings leads Samford with a 9-6 record. Elsa Pool and Holly Horsfall each have eight wins on the season. Jennings and Mary Kathrine Lewis lead the Bulldogs with four wins in doubles.
