Women’s tennis hosts back-to-back home matches

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 28, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team returns home to the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex this weekend and will play two matches. The Bucs will welcome MTSU on Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. The Bucs will then shift their attention to conference play on Saturday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. when they host Chattanooga.

About the Bucs

ETSU is 7-8 overall and 2-0 in conference action. ETSU has only played two matches at home and hold a 2-0 record. As a team, the Bucs are 47-35 in singles action and are 20-19 in doubles play. Freshman Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) leads the Bucs with a 12-3 record in singles and has won her last five matches. Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) has also reached double digit wins, with a 10-4 record in singles. Amaro and Yi Chi Ma (Kaohisung, Taiwan) are ETSU’s strongest doubles pair with an 8-4 record, winning their last three matches.

About MTSU

MTSU enters Friday’s contest with a 6-10 overall record. They most recently fell to Charlotte 5-2. They have a 41-50 record in singles and a 16-23 record in doubles. Luisa Zirilli leads the Blue Raiders with a 10-5 record and is the only Blue Raider to reach double digit wins. Marta Peris Herrero has been on a roll, winning her last four matches and has a 6-3 record.

About Chattanooga

The Mocs are 7-7 overall and are 0-2 in the conference, most recently falling to Western Carolina and Wofford at home. Chattanooga has a 74-76 record in singles and a 38-36 record in doubles. Paolina Goloputova, Caroline Hall, and Emma Van Hee all have 13 wins on the season. With a 9-5 record in doubles, Delaney Edwards and Emma Van Hee are the Mocs strongest doubles pair.
