Women’s tennis gears up for road match at Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 4, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team heads back on the road for a conference matchup, as they take on Western Carolina on Friday, April 5. The match is set for 2:00 p.m. in Cullowhee. N.C.

The Bucs enter Friday’s contest with a 9-9 overall record and are tied for first in the conference going 4-0. ETSU is 58-41 in singles and 23-24 in doubles. Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela), Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile), and Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) all have double digit wins. Amaro leads the Bucs with 14 wins and has gone 8-2 in her last ten matches. Amaro also pairs with Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) in doubles, as the duo is 9-5 overall and 7-3 in their last ten matches as well.

The Catamounts are 12-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference with their SoCon wins coming from Chattanooga and Samford. Western Carolina is 61-52 in singles and 34-22 in doubles. Jacy Smith leads the Catamounts with 15 wins, while winning her last 11 matches. Jordan Strickland and Julia Pezzuco both have double digit wins as well.
