SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 25, 2020) – It was another record-setting day for ETSU Athletics, this time thanks to the Southern Conference Honor Roll. The Bucs placed 262 student-athletes on the 2019-20 SoCon Honor Roll, blowing by the program’s previous record of 229 set in 2017-18. The SoCon office released the Honor Roll on Thursday morning.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 24, 2020) – A record-setting 62 ETSU student-athletes accounted for the Buccaneers’ 79 total selections on the Southern Conference Spring All-Academic list, as the league office announced it honors on Wednesday.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 17, 2020) -- By unanimous votes of the league’s Council of Presidents and directors of athletics, the Southern Conference is canceling all athletics-related activities for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, including competition, championships, organized practices and meetings, due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Commissioner Jim Schaus announced Tuesday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 7, 2020) — It has been an incredible homestand for ETSU’s Women’s Tennis team as they have won their sixth straight home match and improved to 2-0 in Southern Confernce play after blanking the Wofford Terriers on Saturday afternoon.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (March 5, 2020) — The ETSU Women’s Tennis team began Southern Conference play on Thursday afternoon hosting the Western Carolina Catamounts. The Blue and Gold improved to 8-4 on the season and 1-0 in SoCon action as they defeated the Catamounts 6-1.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 4, 2020) — The ETSU Women’s Tennis team is coming off of an historic win over the 49th-ranked Appalachian State on Sunday morning; the win was the highest ranked opponent the Bucs have defeated in program history. This week, the Blue and Gold will begin Southern Conference play as they host the Western Carolina Catamounts and the Wofford Terriers.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 3, 2020) — After going 3-0 in singles action and 2-1 in doubles play, ETSU women’s tennis junior Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile), was named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 1, 2020) — The Bucs secured their season-best fourth win in a row on Sunday morning as they took down the 49th-ranked Appalachian State Mountaineers at the Bristol Racquet Club. The win marked the highest ranked win for ETSU in program history.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2020) — The winning ways continued on Friday afternoon for ETSU’s women’s tennis team at the Bristol Racquet Club as they took down the Charlotte 49ers 4-2.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2020) — After recording back-to-back wins for the first time this season, the ETSU women’s tennis team is back on the court this weekend as they host the Charlotte 49ers on Friday and Appalachian State on Sunday morning. The matches are scheduled to take place at the Bristol Racquet Club.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team did not have to wait long to face their second straight opponent on campus. The squad took down USC Upstate 6-1 at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon, recording back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team will continue play on campus Tuesday afternoon as the visiting USC Upstate Spartans come to Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 22, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team had to wait a few weeks before they were able to play at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex on campus, but the wait was worth it as the Bucs dominated the visiting Lipscomb Bison 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 21, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team is set to play on campus for the first time this season when they host Lipscomb at the Dave Mullins Complex Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Spartanburg, S.C. (Feb. 18, 2020) — After a perfect weekend in singles play and a 1-0 record in doubles action, Laylo Bakhodirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) was named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team had a quick turnaround after yesterday’s win over Cincinnati as they faced the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders on Sunday morning. The Bucs held a lead in the middle of the match, but were unable to secure the win falling to MTSU 4-3.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2020) — After a week away from the court, ETSU women’s tennis team found themselves back in the win column with a 5-2 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team is set to head back on the road this weekend to face Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Saturday and Sunday.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2020) — After a 5-2 win to begin their home slate on Friday, ETSU women’s tennis team was back in action on Sunday at the Bristol Racquet Club facing the VCU Rams. After falling in doubles play, the Bucs won three of the first four singles matches, but were unable to clinch the match, falling to the Rams 4-3.
BRISTOL, TENN. (Feb. 7, 2020) — After securing the doubles point for the second time this season, the Bucs took their momentum into singles play as ETSU’s women’s tennis team took down the Georgia State Panthers 5-2 to open their 2020 home slate.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (Feb. 6, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team will play their first two matches of the season in the friendly confines of the Tri-Cities this weekend. Due to weather, the matches will take place at the Bristol Racket Club in Bristol, Tenn.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Jan. 26, 2020) — A little more than 24 hours after their victory over Davidson, ETSU’s women’s tennis team was back in action on Sunday afternoon as they took on the Virginia Tech Hokies. After dropping five of the six first sets in singles play, ETSU was unable to regain momentum, falling to the Hokies 6-1.
DAVIDSON, N.C. (Jan. 25, 2020) — After a 10-day break from the court, the ETSU women’s tennis team was back in action on Saturday morning and took down the Davidson Wildcats 6-1 to claim the first win for the Blue and Gold this season.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (Jan. 24, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team will continue their 2020 road slate against Davidson and Virginia Tech this weekend. The Blue and Gold will travel to Davidson, N.C. on Saturday, Jan. 25 and then head north to Blacksburg, Va. for a dual with the Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 15, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis kicked off their 2020 season with a battle against one of the top-10 teams in the nation. The Bucs fell to No. 8 NC State in Raleigh, 6-1.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 14, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team will begin their 2020 season on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at No. 8 NC State; the match is slated to begin at 6 p.m. This will be the second consecutive year the Bucs have faced the Wolfpack to begin their season.
Tallahassee, Fla. (Nov. 11, 2019) — The ETSU women’s tennis team completed their 2019 fall campaign with another successful outing at a Power-5 tournament last weekend. Play ran from Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10.
Tallahassee, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2019) — The ETSU women’s tennis team heads down to Florida this weekend to compete in their final fall tournament of 2019, the Seminole All-Conference Showdown.

(Oct. 19, 2019) – After the Blue and Gold walked away with two singles victories on day one of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship, ETSU women’s tennis team was faced with tough power-five opponents on day two in the main singles draw. Raquel Amaro and Andrea Larrinaga won both second round bouts before falling in the third round Friday afternoon.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team completed play of day one of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships highlighted by two victories in singles play.
Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team is back in action to compete in the ITA Regional Championships. The Ohio Valley region will compete at Middle Tennessee State University from Oct. 17-22.
ELON, N.C. (Sept. 15, 2019) – After three days of competing at the Elon Fall Invitational, ETSU’s women’s tennis team finishes with two athletes taking home a first-place finish in their respective draws. The Blue and Gold had second and third place finishes in doubles action.
ELON, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis team begins their 2019 fall campaign at the annual Elon Fall Tennis Invitational in Elon, N.C. this weekend. The tournament takes place starting tomorrow, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 15.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (Aug. 13, 2019) - Women’s Tennis head coach Ricardo Rojas announced the 2019 Fall Schedule for the women’s tennis squad on Tuesday afternoon.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 7, 2019) – The ETSU women’s tennis and golf teams were two of more than 1,300 programs recognized for their academic excellence after scoring in the top 10% of their sports in the 2017-18 Academic Progress Rate (APR) results. Both teams had a perfect score of 1000.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 6, 2019) -- bioPURE Services announced on Tuesday that East Tennessee State University Athletics recently became a bioPURE Certified TMathletic facility. This certification means that ETSU athletes will experience a higher level of clean and disinfection in high-use locations like the weight room and the various locker rooms throughout the athletic complex.
