JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 11, 2021) – East Tennessee State University women’s tennis head coach, Ricky Rojas, officially announced the 2021 Spring schedule on Monday afternoon.
The Bucs face a total of 16 non-conference opponents in the spring, only two of which will take place in Johnson City, Tenn. Their non-conference competition features South Carolina, Kentucky Davidson, Vanderbilt, VCU, Tennessee, and South Florida.
The home slate for ETSU begins on Jan. 30 when the Bucs are slated to host Middle Tennessee State.
ETSU will begin Southern Conference action on March 10 when the Blue and Gold host the Bears of Mercer in Johnson City. The Bucs conclude their five home contests on April 2 and 3 with duels against UNCG and Chattanooga.
The 2021 campaign closes with a rematch of the 2019 conference tournament championship against the Paladins on Apr. 17 in South Carolina. The SoCon Tournament will take place Apr. 22-24 in Birmingham, Ala.
“We are excited and thankful to get out there and play given these difficult circumstances,” said Rojas. “We have put together a very challenging schedule for our girls that will get us ready for conference play. I really appreciate all of our medical staff and athletic training staff for making this possible.”
The Blue and Gold concluded the 2020 season on a six-match win streak, including going 2-0 in SoCon play. Prior to the season being shortened due to COVID-19, ETSU recorded their highest ranked win in program history, a 4-0 sweep over No. 49 Appalachian State.
