Bucs lose first home match of the season

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2022) – Looking to get hot before conference play started, the Bucs were met with the VCU Rams in Bristol as the Rams took the match 4-0 playing to clinch.

Emilia Alfaro (Azul, Argentina) and Mayya Gorbunova (Moscow, Russia) kept their No. 2 flight competitive against VCU’s Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado and Laura Garcia Astudillo, but the Rams’ 1 and 3 flights took the doubles point before their match was finished.

Morales took her first set 6-3 before VCU’s Yelizaveta Karlova took the second and third sets, clinching the match for the Rams. Carvajal forced a third set 6-4 before having their match go unfinished. Rivera took her first set 6-1 against VCU’s Anja Draskovic before their match also went unfinished.
