Bakhodirova and Carvajal to compete in Raleigh; others head to Charlotte

RALEIGH/CHARLOTTE, N.C.  (Sept. 21, 2022) – After a successful fall opener last weekend, ETSU women’s tennis returns to the court this week with a split-squad weekend in Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.

ETSU senior Laylo Bakhodirova (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) will see her first action of the fall as she enters the College Ranked Spotlight hosted by N.C. State. Bakhodirova is ranked No. 106 in the ITA national preseason player rankings. She will be joined by teammate Maria Fernanda Carvajal (Queretaro, Mexico) in doubles play. Carvajal will also serve as an alternate for singles.

Match play in Raleigh runs from Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 22-25.

Meanwhile, the rest of the squad will participate in the 49ers Invite hosted by Charlotte. Match play runs from Friday-Sunday, Sept. 23-25, beginning at 9 a.m. each morning.

The 49ers Invite will be a hidden dual format with two rounds of doubles and a round of singles Friday and Saturday, then one round of each on Sunday. The Charlotte matches will be streamed online.

ETSU enters the week following a successful run at the Elon Invitational to open the fall, combining for a 20-7 record over singles and doubles competition.
