SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 4, 2017) – The Southern Conference announced its track & field athlete of the week honors on Thursday with ETSU women’s track & field athlete Katrina Seymour (New Providence, Bahamas) earning women’s track athlete of the week honors.
Last weekend at the Western Carolina Invitational, Seymour broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles after running a time of 57.96 to claim the event victory. It was the third time this season that Seymour has broken the school record.
Later in the day in Cullowhee, N.C., Seymour won her second event of the day in the 400m dash with a time of 54.71.
Seymour has the fastest time in the SoCon in the 100m dash (11.87), 400m dash (54.71) and 400mH (57.96). Within the NCAA East Region, the New Providence, Bahamas native ranks 12th in the 400 meter hurdles.
It’s the second athlete of the week award of the outdoor season for Seymour as she earned the recognition back on April 6 after finishing sixth out of 50 runners at the nationally recognized 2017 Pepsi Florida Relays.
ETSU will head to the SoCon Championships, May 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala., hosted by Samford University.
