HIGH POINT, N.C. (April 1, 2023) – For the third straight weekend, the ETSU men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to North Carolina, as the Buccaneers wrapped up competition at the VertKlasse Meeting on Saturday in Vert Stadium.
The Blue & Gold had a handful of successful showings on Saturday in High Point, N.C.
In the elite section of the women’s and men’s 800m, Julia Karsten (Old Hickory, Tenn.) and Conner Overly (Maryville, Tenn.) had strong showings for the Blue & Gold. Karsten finished fifth with a time of 2:16.55, while Overly also placed fifth with a personal best time of 1:52.61.
In the open section of the women’s 800m, the Bucs had a pair of top-10 finishes with Ansley Archuleta (Fort Mill, S.C.) and Meg Lance (Woodstock, Ga.) placing fifth and eighth, respectively. Archuleta posted a time of 2:24.61 and Lance clocked in at 2:24.98. Archuleta also had a PR in the open 400m hurdles as she finished ninth with a time of 1:06.66.
D’Shawn Fletcher (Locust Grove, Ga.) set a season best in the open 100m with a time of 10.86, finishing 16th overall. In the men’s open 400m hurdles, Treven McGhee (Crossville, Tenn.) set a PR with a time of 59.28, placing 12th.
In the field events, Anna Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.) started the morning with a personal best showing in the hammer as she had a distance of 43.82m. In women’s triple jump, Tya Blake (Lynchburg, Va.) had a season best with a mark of 11.68m, placing 13th overall.
After three straight trips to the Tar Heel state, the Buccaneers stay in the Volunteer state next weekend as ETSU heads to Knoxville for the Tennessee Relays.
