PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisc. (Sept. 4, 2021) – The ETSU women’s triathlon team was prepared for the challenge of their first fall race since 2019, finishing third as a squad. Senior Lane McDonald (South Bend, Ind.) led the Bucs with a 1:05:36.4 time, good to finish 19th out of 43 racers.
“The girls did a good job today, especially after only two weeks of training as a unit,” said Allie Nicosia, ETSU’s head triathlon coach. “I’m happy with where they are right now and [I’m] looking forward to what we can do this season.”
Junior Lindsey Batkiewicz (Johnston, Iowa) and Freshman Sarah Plant (Chandler, Ariz.) both finished shortly after McDonald with their respective times of 1:06:50.4 and 1:06:53.5. Junior Carla Garcia (Madrid, Spain), Junior Holle Guntz (Indianapolis, Ind.), and Freshman Izi Belogay (Sterling, Va.) rounded out ETSU’s competitors, all three finishing within 30 seconds of each other.
