SARASOTA, Fla. (March 11, 2023) – Four members of the ETSU women’s triathlon team concluded competition at the Sarasota-Bradenton Triathlon on Saturday from Nathan Benderson Park.
Delaney Hammill (Columbia, Md.) was the first Buccaneer in action on Saturday as she was featured in the Junior North American Championships. The race, a qualifier to make the Junior World Championship team, saw Hammill place 32nd in the event with a time of 1:04:44.3. Hammill finished the 750m swim in 10:16, while clocking in at 29:46 in the 18.3K bike and posted a time of 23:30 in the 5K run.

A trio of Bucs then raced in the 2023 Americas Triathlon Elite Cup later in the morning.
Lindsey Batkiewicz (Johnston, Iowa), Abby Church (Chantilly, Va.) and Carla Garcia (Madrid, Spain) were the ETSU student-athletes donning the Blue and Gold in that event.
Church led the group as she finished 27th with a time of 1:04:53.9, while Batkiewicz was right behind in 28th with a mark of 1:05:10.5. Batkiewicz had better times in the swim (10:29) and bike (30:15); however, Church finished strong with a run as she clocked in at 21:49. Church finished the swim in 10:33 and the bike in 31:13, while Batkiewicz ended the run in 23:19.
Garcia did not finish the race due to having a flat tire in the bike. Garcia finished the swim in 10:29 and had a time of 32:47 in the bike.
